Christopher Columbus is credited with
discovering the Pineapple on the Island of Guadeloupe in the Caribbean in
1493.
The Pineapple was adopted by the Spanish as a symbol of hospitality. This
symbol was incorporated into furniture and woodwork.
The motif eventually migrated back to the colonies of North America where it
remains a symbol of hospitality and friendship
and is commonly exchanged as gifts of welcome and thank you. The Pineapple
is also considered a symbol of wealth in Asian cultures.
In some areas, sea captains home from their voyage would put a pineapple
on their fencepost symbolizing a warm
welcome for friends and neighbors to come to their open house. Loffreno Real
Estate Inc. welcome you to Fort Myers Beach.
You will find a Pineapple on our website, a grand pineapple in our lobby,
and one at each desk at our office.
